Types of library cards:

Unverified - an unverified library card grants the user the privilege to check out one item, place holds and access the WLD databases from home.

Verified - a verified library card grants the user full borrowing privileges.
Who may apply:

Anyone may obtain a library card through a branch or member library. Library cards are free of charge (A replacement fee of $1.00 is charged for a lost or damaged card).
Adults (16 and older)
To receive a verified card with full borrowing privileges:
Patron must present two forms of ID.
1. One photo ID from the following list:

Consulate Card
-
Driver’s License
-
Military ID
-
Passport
-
Permanent Resident Card
-
School ID
-
State ID
2. And one proof of current address from the following list:

Mortgage papers
-
Phone bill
-
Printed checks with current address
-
Utility bill
-
Voter registration card
The identification is closely examined to ensure that the picture matches the person and that the second form of identification matches the name, address and/or the signature.
When the patron does not have two forms of identification or chooses not to show photo identification:

The patron may receive an unverified library card.

Patron may return with the second form of identification,
OR
-
Address a WLD notification letter to their current address.
The library will mail the letter to the patron. Within 30 days, the patron must present the letter along with their unverified library card to a WLD library. Staff will change the status of the card from unverified to verified.
Juvenile cards (15 and younger)

Parents or legal guardians should be present when children apply for a card. The parent or legal guardians may use their current library card with the correct
information as identification for the child.

If the parent cannot come with the child, an unverified card may be issued. An application for a library card is given to the child to take home. When the child
returns the signed application along with proof of current address, staff will issue a verified card. A photocopy of the proof of address is acceptable for
identification.

Replacement of lost or damaged borrower's card is $1.00 dollar.
